Eucalyptus nitens - exotic tree

Commonly known as shining gum or silvertop, it is a well proven shelter and fuelwood tree with great cool climate timber potential.  Very fast growing and whilst not native to NZ, it is a good staple tree for farms.  It is an evergreen that prefers full sun or partial shade and is unsuitable for wet or drought prone sites.  It can tolerate clay and salt winds and is frost hardy.
Growth after 5 years is approx 5m with full maturity reaching up to 50m.  Can be coppice to stimulate growth.
